Pair of Colt model 1862 police conversions to .38 centerfire caliber, factory style engraved, silver plated, ivory grips, serial #41343IE and #41376IE. The pair show 4-1/2” barrels, are engraved nearly identically with Young style open scrolls, Colt’s patent hand-cut in block letters on left side of frames, and typical Young motifs with cobwebs, fans, and scrolls. The pair show 90-95% of an old resilvered finish, possiblydone at time of conversion and engraving. The markings are only slightly light in a few places. The grips on 41343 show a crack on the left side and some other minor checking, and we would rate them as very good. Itsmate, 41376, the grips are near excellent. Both sets fit impeccably, and both show no polishing. Approx. 80-90% cylinder scene remains on each pistol. The actions are good, bores very good plus. Pistol #41343 showsthe number “1345” on cylinder, which was probably a mis-stamp or mixup at the engraver’s. A modern display box is included, but not pictured. Est: $6,000 - $12,000
