Pair of Colt Single Action Army revolvers in .45 long colt caliber, 7 ½” barrels, custom engraved on special order by John J. Adams master engraver in classic American western style for Arvo Ojala. A letter from Adams mentions that he engraved the backstrap “Arvo Ojala Opening of Gunsmoke” and the top of the barrel was an engraved with a .45 bullet being shot down the barrel in a puff of smoke. These guns were engraved for Arvo in remembrance of his part in the opening scene of this epic western. The project was completed in 1995 before Arvo passed away. The pistols were sent to Goldline of Conn. To be plated in 18 carat gold and then to Dan Chesiak to be fitted with one piece ivory grips. Factory letter to Arvo Ojala confirms serial number 1 and 2 Gunsmoke and factory made double French case with blue interior and shipped as a pair. Also a “Gunsmoke” belt buckle portraying Dillion and Arvo in character cast by Al Shelton in brass is included. The pair remain in excellent unfired condition since the project was completed in 1995.
