Pair of American percussion dueling/target pistols signed “F. Reynolds New York”, cased with accessories, circa approx. 1840. The pair measures approx. 16-3/8” overall with 9-5/8” barrels, of approx. .45 caliber smoothbore. Half stocked with checkered wrists, scrolled triggerguards, adjustable set triggers, cased with accessories. The pair remain in good to very good condition showing 60-70% original brown on barrels with good Damascus patterned finish and some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The locks and tangs show 50-70% case hardening drifting to grey. The locks, tangs, and mounts are finely engraved. The triggerguards show some bright original blue. The stocks are good to very good with sharp and cri checkering, about 50-70% original varnish, some small scratches, dings, mars, normal use. The buttcaps show some bright original case hardening, correct style brass tipped wooden ramrods are included. The pair are cased within their original to the period partition style case , lined in green velveteen. The case shows some normal aging, wear at contact points, a couple of small breaks at the edges of the partitions, original compartment covers included. The interior of the
