Pair of .36 caliber percussion target/dueling pistols by John Mullin, New York. Cased with accessories and numbered “1” and “2”. The pair measure approx. 15-1/2” overall with 8-5/8” medium weight octagon barrels of .36 caliber smoothbore, half stocked, scroll triggerguard, adjustable set triggers, brown barrels, case hardened locks and mounts. Nicely checkered select walnut stocks. The wrist of each pistol show a gold inlaid owners plaque, double gold banded and breach, with silv barrel key escutcheons. The barrels show 10-20% original brown, some light cleaning long ago, some just beginning erosion and starting pinprick pitting. The locks and tangs show 50-70% case hardening, drifting to silvery grey with some very vibrant colors at breech and some areas of the locks. The butts and triggerguards show significant case hardening at least 50-70%., The stocks are very good us with 70-80% original varnish, some slight storage marks at the edges, minor handling, just normal wear. The actions are crisp. The pistols are at least very good overall. The pair are contained within their original to the period velveteen line case with large compartments. The case remains in good condition
