Taino. PreColumbian. Published. An outstanding skull effigy, highly stylized, with dynamic dental display, sunken deep set eyes, well defined embossed cheek bones, rare depiction of ears, and uniquely formed tabular oblique skull modification. An incredible example of Taino craftsmanship. It is probably the representation of an important ancestor. The Taino kept the skulls of relatives and made stylized stone representation of the elite. Ancestor worship played a key role in Taino religious beliefs, as they were a common presences in ritual hallucinations as recognized in current medical applications of botanical entheogens. Made from a beautiful dark blue-green magnetite like stone with positive magnetic field. Comes with professionally made museum mount.
