PARKER GRADE 3 (D) 10 BORE 3 1/2 MAGNUM DOUBLE
SHOTGUN WITH EJECTORS. Cal. 10 Ga., 3 1/2". S# 60577 (1890). This gun was made around 1890 and it appears that it was sent back to the factory around 1929 for new 3 1/2" magnum 10 bore barrels. These 30" barrels are marked "PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CONN. PEERLESS STEEL." on matted rib. Engine turned barrel flats are stamped with Parker overload proofs "3 1/2" and with the date "3-29" and some extraneous proofs, perhaps Belgian. Case hardened action with nonautomatic safety and double triggers has grade mark, S# and patent dates stamped on watertable. Grade has been restamped "CH". Action is engraved in usual early "D" style with sprays of scroll and dogs on sides and quail on bottom. Capped pistol grip buttstock of quilt figured and lightly streaked Eurpoean walnut measures 14 3/8" over skeleton steel buttplate. Side panels are checkered and standard drop points and grip checkering along with large vacant silver oval are present. Splinter forend with usual Parker release has been fitted with unknown pattern ejectors; wood is replaced. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .765. R .760. Restriction: L .044 (Full). Barrels retaining nearly all original blue with some marks and dings. Action retains nearly all cyanide type case hardening colors. Stocks with renewed oil finish. Checkering recut on buttstock, haphazardly done and finer on replaced forend wood. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is slightly loose. Ejectors fitted by another are slightly out of time. A Parker record search may find reference to these newer barrels however, they may have been added by someone other than the factory. (01-24233/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,500-4,500.
