Lot of two Colt black powder first generation single action frontier six shooter revolvers belonging to Lash La Rue, S/N 14388 manufactured in 1891 and S/N 122760 manufactured in 1887. Both were outfitted with mother of pearl grips and re-nickeled for movie use so they photograph better. The 1881 Single Action has a chip to the left grip that was purported to be the result of heavy movie usage. In 1992 Ty Rutledge acquired from Allen “Lash” La Rue his double holster rig which was leather stitched around the edges and hung with studded double loop holsters. Across the back of the rig it is tooled with the name “Cheyenne Kid”. The right holster has been cut away to allow La Rue’s bull whip to hang over the handle of his Colt revolver. Allen La Rue was originally billed in his first 8 movies as the Cheyenne Kid and later became famous as Lash La Rue. Accompanying this set is an original Lash La Rue hard bound book, autographed publicity photo of La Rue and movie sidekick Fuzzie St. John personalized to Ty Rutledge and given to him upon purchase of holster rig and Colts. Also other documents and photographs. The provenance is as follows: Ty Rutledge’s collection to a Montana dealer/Collector and finally in 2003 to the collection of Mr. Jack Fitterer. Est.: $3500-$7000
