P.S. Lauman/B. Sells Xenia Ohio Marked Half-Stock Percussion Rifle with Unique Brass Lock plate

Blade front and notch rear sight, with the lightly engraved brass lock plate marked "P.S. LAUMAN/XENIA O" ahead of the scroll and fish head engraved hammer. "B. Sells" is stamped on the barrel. Smooth straight wrist stock, with a brass tipped ramrod, pewter forearm tip, German silver wedge escutcheons and accent panels, raised cheekpiece and an engraved brass buttplate. Included with the rifle are 2 cast balls, one engraved from rifling.

Very good, with a mixed brown patina overall, showing bright grey along the high edges and scattered handling marks. Stock is good as period repaired, with a cracked and German silver reinforced wrist and mild dents. Mechanically functions, but does not stay cocked.
