Over and under mule ear percussion plains rifle marked "B. Losey" who was from Motts Corners, N.Y. circa about 1840-1850's. The arm measures 46" overall with 30-1/4" barrel group, both barrels are rifled and approx. 38 caliber. The lock and tang are lightly engraved and so is the simple German silver patch box. The metal surfaces are a gray to brown patina with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The toe of the stock has been broken and repaired and a large chip missing. The stock has been lightly refinished. The locks are not staying cocked. The set triggers are working, two simple wood ramrods areincluded. Many of these mule-ears went west with 49ers and pioneers.
