The top of the receiver is stamped with a single "Eagle/135" Waffenamt proof over "byf/44", the wartime code for the Mauser factory and 44 for the year of manufacture. The right side of the receiver ring has a single "Eagle/135" Waffenamt proof and the left side of barrel and receiver both have a single Nazi/Eagle firing proof. The receiver side wall has the correct "Mod. 98" markings. The rear section of the barrel also has the factory markings of "44R361" with no other markings. The front barrel band, trigger guard and floor plate are the stamped version and the lower barrel band is a milled version, all are stamped with the either the full or partial serial number of the rifle. The rear sight base has the ZF41 base and it is fitted with a ZF41 sniper scope that is marked "dow/ZF 41/1". The scope mount is stamped on the rear leg: "2110/duv/Eagle 214". The scope is fitted with a sun shaded on both ends. This rifle is fitted with a wartime laminated stock and handguard that is unproofed and has been fitted with a French sling bar on the left side. This rifle is complete with a front sight hood, a K98 style bayonet and scabbard, cleaning rod, cross-hatched brown leather sling and an original ZF41 scope can.

Condition: Fine as restored (renumbered bolt assembly and scope base) with 90% of the wartime blue finish overall. The replaced stock and handguard are fine with a nice matching color overall and minimal handling marks. The scope and mount retain 95% of the original blue finish. The optics are good. The scope can retains 90% of it's wartime dessert tan finish. The bayonet and scabbard are good.
