Manufactured from 1860 to 1868, with the top of the barrel rib marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS." and the cylinder is marked with the 1855, '59 and '60 patent dates. The revolver has a brass blade front and notch rear sights, the frame is silver plated while the remaining parts were blue and it is fitted with smooth two piece varnished rosewood grips. Complete with an original Smith & Wesson Gutta Percha case with decorative carved lid with image of a Number One revolver and "MANUFACTURED ONLY BY/SMITH & WESSON,/SPRINGFIELD MASSACHUSETTS". The inside of the lid has decorative wine colored velvet and there is red velvet on the bottom and a 56 round bullet block. .

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 98% original bright blue finish with minimal wear on the ejector rod, a few collector type handling marks. The frame retains 99% original silver plating which has darkened with age. The grips are also excellent with 99% plus original varnish remaining and showing a few minor scuffs and handling marks. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent. The case is excellent with some loose material and some contact wear from the cylinder. An outstanding example of a Model Number One with Gutta Percha case, this is as good as it gets!
