Very fine. The revolver retains 60% plus of the original blue finish. The finish on the sides of the barrel has flaked to a dark patina and shows some surface discoloration. There are some minor takedown marks around the wedge slot. The cylinder has most of the high polish blue finish remaining and the percussion nipples have moderate flash pitting. The loading lever, frame and hammer retain 85% plus of the fiery original case colors. Most of the age darkened silver plated finish remains on the trigger guard and back strap. The grip is excellent with nearly all of the piano finish varnish remaining showing only minor handling wear. The markings are sharp. The cylinder does not turn when the hammer is cocked. The case is fine. The lid shows minor handling wear and has two hairline cracks. The lining on the case bottom is faded and torn in several places. The lid lining has some discoloration from contact with the revolver cylinder. The cap tin is fair with damage to the wrapping and label. The powder flask is fine and retains 70% of the gold plated, niter blue and brown lacquer finish. The bullet mold is excellent and retains 70% of the blue finish with crisp markings. The cartridge packet is good. This is a fine example of a factory cased Colt Model 1862 Police revolver with original accessories.
