Outstanding Late Production Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine

Manufactured in 1925. The carbine has a full blue finish with casehardened lever and hammer and varnished straight grain black walnut stock and forearm. The barrel has a block mounted steel front sight blade and a folding leaf rear sight graduated to 200 yards. The left side of the receiver has a staple mounted saddle ring. The legend "- MODEL 92-WINCHESTER-44 W.C.F.-/-TRADEMARK-" is roll stamped on the left side of the barrel below the rear sight. A "P" proofmark in an oval (usually means rebarreled) and the Winchester "WP" proofmark are stamped on the top of the barrel in front of the receiver. The "WP" proofmark is stamped on the top of the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll stamped "MODEL 92/- WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF & FGN". The serial number "952440" is stamped across the bottom of the receiver.

Excellent as factory rebarreled. The carbine retains at least 97% of the original blue and casehardened finish. The barrel and magazine retain nearly all of the blue finish. There is very minor wear on the upper barrel band. The lower barrel band retains about 70% of the blue finish. The receiver retains at least 97% of the high polish blue finish; wear is limited to some very minor age freckling on the underside of the receiver behind the serial number and several very minor handling marks on the sides. The hammer and lever retain nearly all of the muted case colors. The buttplate shows some handling wear and has about 75% of the original blue finish intact. The markings on the barrel and receiver are perfect. The stock and forearm are both excellent plus and retain nearly all of the original varnish finish. Wear is limited to a few very minor handling marks on the left side of the stock wrist. This is an outstanding example of a Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine.
