This exceptional Colt Model 1860 Army revolver with fluted cylinder was manufactured in 1861. This rare revolver is one of approximately 4000 Model 1860 Army revolvers manufactured with the early, fluted cylinder. In addition, this revolver has the scarce 7 1/2 inch barrel. The revolver has a four screw-frame with extended frame screws for shoulder stock. The barrel, cylinder and back strap have Colt's high polish commercial blue finish. The loading lever, frame and hammer are color casehardened with fiery case colors. The trigger guard is brass and the one-piece, walnut, stock has an oil finish. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S.AMERICA" in one line. "COLTS/PATENT" is roll-stamped on the left side of the frame. PATENTED SEPT. 10th 1850" is stamped in one cylinder flute. The serial number "3107" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. All of the visible serial numbers match.

Condition: Very fine, near excellent. The revolver is completely original and in extraordinary condition for a early production, fluted cylinder, Model 1860 Army revolver. These revolvers are scarce in any condition and are rarely encountered with any original finish. This revolver has 60% of the bright original high polish blue finish present on the barrel and cylinder; the balance of the metal surfaces have a very attractive plum brown patina. The cylinder safety pins are in fine condition (with half intact) and there is minimal flash pitting on the percussion nipples. Nearly all of the blue finish is present on the back strap. The frame and hammer retain close to 95% plus of the casehardened finish with vivid case colors. The loading lever has about 70% of the casehardened finish. The brass trigger guard has a mellow mustard yellow patina. The bore is perfect. The walnut grip is in excellent condition; wear is limited to several minor scratches on the right side along the back strap. This is an outstanding example of a rare fluted cylinder Model 1860 Army revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel. This revolver would be a stand-out piece in any advanced collection of Colt percussion revolvers.
