This is a nice example of a U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 pistol that was inspected by Colonel Robert Sears. This pistol was manufactured late 1941, some what early on after the transition from blue to parkerized parts. The frame is marked with the boxed "R.S." inspection marking of Col. Robert Sears, with "P" proof below the magazine catch, with the standard Colt "VP/4" proof marks with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No741627/ M1911A1 U.S ARMY" on the right side. The matching serialized slide has the standard two line/two block patent and address markings on the left side with the "P" proof on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. It has standard fixed front and rear sights, with the checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide release and thumb safety, milled checkered trigger, checkered, arched mainspring housing and brown plastic grips with the hollow back with small reinforcing rings around the screw holes. Complete with a two-tone magazine marked with a "B" on the lip of the base.

Condition: Excellent with 95% plus of the parkerized finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots, top of the chamber area, top of the frame rails, and lower mainspring housing. The barrel is a reparkerized replacement. The grips are also excellent very fine with nice sharp checkering. A nice early Colt M1911A1 automatic pistol.
