Outstanding Documented Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Schuetzen Rifle with a Factory Mounted Winche
Manufactured in 1906. This Schuetzen rifle features a #2 part octagon barrel with a windage adjustable front globe sight and mounted with a factory installed Winchester A5 scope with adjustable rear mount. There is no rear sight seat on the barrel. The top barrel flat is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A." and the Winchester oval proof is marked on the top flat directly ahead of the rear scope base and on the top of the receiver The upper tang is equipped with a mid range peep sight. Close coupled double set triggers, casehardened breechblock, hammer, lever and buttplate, with blue finished remaining parts, and mounted with extra fancy, nicely figured checkered Schnabel forearm and Schuetzen pistol grip stock with a hard rubber Winchester grip cap and a helm style Schuetzen buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, #2, 28", part octagon barrel, double set triggers, Schuetzen stock without cheekpiece, no rear sight seat, mid range and wind gauge sights without level, that it was received in the warehouse on April 21, 1906 and shipped out on order number 49179, April 23, 1906.

Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 98% original blue finish with some mild thinning on the muzzle and some minor flaking, and some edge wear on the receiver. The lever has a smooth dark patina with strong original case colors in protected areas. The scope is excellent with a few light scratches and scuffs, and clear optics. The wood is also excellent with most of the original finish remaining and some scattered light pressure dents and handling marks. The buttplate has a smooth mottled brown patina. Crisp and clear markings. The action is excellent.
