This is an exceptional original example of a Colt Bisley Flattop Target Revolver that is chambered for .38 W.C.F. caliber. The revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter that states it was shipped to Schwabacher Hardware in Seattle, Washington on December 22, 1910. Colt manufactured a total of 976 Bisley Flattop Target Revolvers; only 98 of these revolvers were chambered for the .38 W.C.F. cartridge. The revolver has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish with a color casehardened hammer and niter blue trigger, rear sight and screws. In addition to the flat frame with drift adjustable target rear sight and block-mounted target front sight with removable brass blade, the revolver has the distinctive Bisley humpback grip and extended back strap, special frame, curved wide spur hammer and longer wider trigger. The black hard rubber two-piece grips are checkered and have the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the legend "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in one line. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped "(BISLEY MODEL) 38 W.C.F.". The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt three date/two line patent markings followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark is stamped on the left side of the front trigger guard bow and a "W" assembler's mark is stamped on the left rear bow. The assembly number "12" is stamped on the inside of the loading gate. "41" is stamped on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the frame. The inspection number "3" is stamped in the hammer slot. The full serial number "313441" is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. All of the visible serial numbers match.

Cylinder wear is limited to some light turn lines between the stops. Nearly all of the fiery niter blue finish is present on the rear sight, trigger and screw heads. The hammer has vivid case colors. The screws are all excellent. All of the markings are extremely sharp. The finely tuned action functions perfectly. The hard rubber grips are both excellent and show minimal handling marks on butt. This is an outstanding example of a Colt Bisley Flattop Target Revolver.
