The barrel, frame and fluted, five-shot, cylinder have a high polish blue finish. The loading lever, hammer and cylinder pin are casehardened with fiery colors. The one-piece walnut grip has a high polish varnish finish. The top of the barrel is roll stamped with a pointing hand followed by "+COLT'S PT./1855+" in a two line block and "ADDRESS COL. COLT/HARTFORD CT.U.S.A.+" in two lines. The cylinder lack the patent markings stamped in some "Model 3" flutes. The serial number, "24945", is stamped on the underside of the barrel and the butt.
