Manufactured in 1981, this Government Model pistol features factory "D" broad leaf floral scroll engraving covering 80% of the gun. The only surface absent of any engraving is the grip safety and back strap. The left side of the slide is marked "COLT'S MK IV/SERIES '70 / GOVERNMENT MODEL / .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER" followed by the Rampant Colt and the right side is marked "COLT'S GOVERNMENT MODEL". The one line address and serial number are marked on the right side of the frame. The Colt triangle "VP" proof is marked on the lower left rear of the trigger guard bow "M" on the upper left and a double stamped "V" on the opposite. The sides of the slide and frame are polished while the remaining surfaces have a matte finish. Standard low profile fixed sights, serrated arched mainspring housing and fitted with two piece ivory grips carved with the Samuel Colt Coat of Arms. Complete in a Colt Custom Shop locking walnut case with wine colored velvet lining and original plain two piece cardboard box.
