Out-of-the-attic condition Peabody Civil War era drop breech rifle, .45 cal., 33” barrel, blue finish, wood stocks, iron ramrod, triangular socket bayonet with metal scabbard, also untouched and uncleaned plus a horn body with brass charger powder horn all from a local family that was passed down and is now being offered for sale. The action is good, the bore is dark, the metal surfaces show a heavy dark patina with some scattered areas of erosion and some pin prick pitting; wood stocks are good overall with some scattered nicks, mars and scratches from storage. Also included are two brass belt buckles, a lead bullet appearing to be CivilWar era and a brass bayonet hanger with partial frog, likely for the bayonet in this lot. A really neat grouping right out of the original family. Est.: $500-$900.
