Otto Kruger Coat from A Dispatch from Reuter's
This doctor’s coat was worn by the character “Dr. Magnus,” portrayed by actor Otto Kruger, in the 1940 motion picture, “A Dispatch From Reuter’s.” The white linen period coat comes complete with the original Warner Brothers Picture label sewn inside with the name “Otto Kruger” and production date handwritten in faded black ink. Mr. Kruger appeared wearing the coat in the beginning of the film where he is at the hospital preparing to administer a drug to a sick boy. Before he can proceed, he receives a last minute message via one of Paul Reuter’s carrier pigeons to not give the boy the particular treatment, which saves the patient’s life. “A Dispatch From Reuter’s,” starring Edward G. Robinson, is a biographical film about Paul Reuter (Robinson), the man who built the famous news service that bears his name. The coat is in very good screen worn condition with minor yellowing due to age. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
