Ornate and exhibition quality DA large frame pinfire revolver of German origin, signed in gold on barrel “Miller Fa Baader & Sohn in Munchen”. The revolver measures 12” overall with a 6-1/8” barrel of approx. 12mm pinfire with a 6-shot cylinder; the revolver shows deep cut relief engraving on the frame and cylinder with gold wire inlaid border. The grips are carved ebony with ivory caps at the bottom. The barrel and cylinder were blued, the frame and mounts were satin finished or French gray. The cylinder shows approx. 90% toning original blue that still is bright around the ring, the barrel shows approx. 70% blue drifting to brown; the frame mounts are crisp and show some staining, the grips are fine to excellent, the action is tight and working well, the interior is pristine. The pistol shows Belgian and English proofs and the mechanism is quite ingenious whereas the barrel has a reinforced rib milled at its top and the loading gate swivels upward on a screw so the cylinder can be loaded which is simple and effective. An ornate and rare pinfire of the style that is possibly unique. Est.: $2,000-$3,000.
