For sale in this lot is an Ottoman Empire Martini-Henry rifle, originating from the late 1870's. The rifle is customized with ornate silver, rawhide wrapping around the butt-stock, and horsehair drops, adorned with large Chinese Dogon Padre beads. The Martini-Henry was a hot-ticket firearm for the advancing military market, and Ottoman Turkey was unable to purchase the rifle from Britain like they did with over 300,000 British Snider-Enfeilds. Instead, Turkey approached Providence Tool Company of Rhode Island, USA to duplicate the Martini rifle. The Ottoman Empire would eventually purchase over 600,000 of the rifles during the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878. Overall, the rifle shows good condition for age. This is an Antique Firearm, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: NSN.
