Wolfe” from his sketch book and entitled on matt “When Smoke Means Trouble” and also signed and remarked on lower right of the matting by the artist.This well known Kansas City artist worked on a cattle ranch before studying art at the University of Kansas. He is well known for his cowboy and Indian scenes and he was a member of the cowboy artists of America. His woks hang in Wyoming state gallery, Buffalo Bill Museum, Montana’s Historical Society and other major institutions. He was born 1904 died 1973 in Monument, Colorado. There is a story and inscription by the artist on theback of the painting dated 1968 and it explains the subject and title of this artwork. Est.;$500-$1,000.
