Original oil painting on canvas signed lower right E. F. Ward and titled on back “There Goes My Lines”. Edmund Franklin Ward was born in 1892 and lived until 1991. His long career started before he was 20 when he began illustrating for Saturday Evening Post. He also for many years he illustrated the Alexander Botts and assistant district attorney Doowinkle series for the Saturday evening Post. He was born in White Plains,New York and he studied at the art students League with Norman Rockwell with whom he shared a studio. Among his teachers were Thomas Fogarty, Edward Dufner and George Bridgman. He was a member of the SalmagundiClub and a member of the Guild of freelance artists and was a member of the Society of illustrators. His top prices at auction has been $16,100 and many in his time compared his artwork to be in a league approachingNorman Rockwell. Est.: $3,000-$6,000.
