Original oil painting on board portraying African lion and lioness in dry African plains. Signed lower left Wilhelm Kuhnert, dated 1912. Approx. 14-1/2” by 23”. This European master (1865 - 1926) was consideredthe best early European painter of Africa and was highly regarded by heads of state even in his lifetime. His paintings hang in major museums and collections throughout the world and many consider his work the best of theentire genre.
