Original gold rush sign from The Oso House which was a hotel erected in 1851 in Bear Valley, California. An old photograph and letter is included with the sign that is presented from Judge J.J. Trabuco to Mr. Lyon who was W. Parker Lyon the owner of the Pony Express Museum in California. The photo and letter were used as a display in this museum. Also this sign is pictured in the book on The Pony Express collection. The sign measures 117 1/2” x 14.5” x 1.5” thick and is painted on board. The sign is in weathered condition with normal aging. The Oso house was the finest hotel within many miles of the goldfields and miners enjoyed its comforts when they hit a rich vein. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
