Original gold inlaid and engraved Colt 3rd Model Dragoon with New York address and British proofs, serial #7. This rare Colt was discovered approx a decade ago and is presumed to have been a exhibition anddisplay piece as it shows a large gold figure on left barrel lug of a half man/half horse shooting a colt pistol. The right side of barrel lug shows the British lion shooting a Colt pistol. The balance is engraved in aunusual scroll motif. The grips are deluxe burl walnut. The metal surfaces show light to moderate pitting and erosion but still fairly sharp edges with light barrel address and light markings. The grips are very goodplus, all matching serial numbers. The pistol is contained within a deluxe rose wood case lined in blue velveteen in partition style. The case includes a Barlow marked bag flask of proper size, dragoon mold, nipplewrench, capper, cleaning rod and two skin packs of cartridges by Sage.
