Original bronze consisting of two figures, cowboy on horseback and calf. #1/50 by noted artist Douglas Van Howd, whose work of the Pony Express is featured in the entrance to the Grand Sierra Resort (Formerly the MGMGrand) in Reno, and his artwork is prized by collectors and museums throughout the world. Douglas Van Howd (1935 - ) is a very well recognized sculptor whose works are actively collected by an international clientele. Hisdepiction of the Pony Express fills the entrance of the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV (Formerly MGM Grand) and his sculpture entitled Friends of Freedom is displayed in the Roosevelt room at the Whitehouse. Mr.Petersen bought a large number of artworks from this artist and actively collected his #1’s. Approx. 15” in height by 25” across the kidney shaped wood base. From the Robert Petersen Collection.
