Original antique framed and matted hand colored print entitled “Some of The Famous Generals of The U.S. Army Under Whom Buffalo Bill Has Served”; approx. 18” x 15” overall and in very good condition. The print itself shows the likeness of William F. Cody “Late Chief of Scouts, U.S. Army” in the center of the print, hand colored, with 15 U.S. Generals surrounding him; at the top of the print is another image of Buffalo Bill with a ribbon below marked “Col. W.F. Cody, Pres.”. Thethick matting has a hand painted colored wreath around the oval of the opening to this image, a spread eagle above it and an impressive colorful stand-of-international-flags between that oval and the opening to the larger image of the print ofBuffalo Bill surrounded by the 15 U.S. Generals. Below the larger opening is another colored eagle, this time seen in flight and a colored floral border. Importantly, at the bottom of the framing are six cut-outs in the matting to reveal whatappear to be the signatures of Cody and 5 of the pictured Generals (G.A. Custer, Phil Sheridan, Winfield Scott, E.A. Carr and U.S. Grant). At the bottom right hand corner of the matting is the marking “Steins ‘Americas Greatest Clothiers’”.
