Original Western action oil painting on canvas signed in lower left “Ace (playing card) Powell”. This well-known Montana artist moved to the state when he was 1 year old and encouraged to paint as a youngster byCharlie Russell who knew his family. Ace loved the Black Foot Indians and went to school on their reservation and later he worked on the Bar X6 Ranch. After WWII he attended the University of Montana and beganhis career as an artist. The painting measuring approximately 24” x 32” and shows two Indians being chased by cowboys down a ravine (Probably Black Foot and possibly from history). Ace Powell’s work is desirable ashe was a true working cowboy in the Charlie Russell tradition and a Montana favorite adopted son. Since his passing in 1978 his work has been on an upward trend in value. Est.: $5,000-$10,000.
