This is a fantastic and rare original watercolor work of art by famed Billings, Montana Crow Native American Indian artist Leland Stewart. Stewart is a member of the Crow Nation, Whistling Water Caln and the High Hawk Society. He graduated from the Institute of the American Indian Arts in 1975. This piece features four Indians on horseback carrying weaponry, with hills in the background. Each Indian and horse features intricate attire and vibrant color. Stewart's artwork is featured in in Montana fine art galleries and beyond. This piece is on watercolor paper and is framed in a black wooden frame (small chip on bottom corner). The frame measures 31" by 25". Many of Stewart’s works cane be found at the Sam Terakedis Fine Art & Jewelry Gallery with some examples being priced at $6,200 for Two Sisters in the Bear Paws, $5,500 for Uncle Buffalo, and $6,000 for The Visitor with this example for sale being very similar in size and composure as The Visitor. The visible artwork area measures 23 3/8 inches by 17 3/8 inches. This is truly an extraordinary and fine work of American Indian heritage art.
