This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth sculpture titled "Shotgunner". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows a good depiction of a man firing a shotgun with moonshine bottle to the side. The piece shows fine detail and artistic ability. The base has been signed by the artist and the sculpture is in good overall condition. There is some damage to the boot and waist of the figure as shown. This piece comes with a printed biography of the artist and a Certificate of Authenticity which gives rights to the buyer to have the sculpture cast if they choose. The sculpture measures 10" x 6" and is 7.5" tall.
