Original U.S. Army Air Corps type A-2 Flight Jacket painted in the 1990s by George H. Odenwaller, S/Sgt. Ret, the former ball turret gunner of B-17 "Outhouse Mouse" of the 91st Bombardment Group, 323rd Bomb Squadron. The painted motif on this jacket reproduced the original artwork Odenwaller painted on his original A-2 jacket. Sergent Odenwaller's jacket is on display at the U.S.S. Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (photographs of his original jacket are included). This jacket was manufactured by Rough Wear Clothing Company and is a size 42. The lining has the maker tag and a large stamped USAAF insignia along with "31ST B.G./323RD B.S." and "G.H. ODENWALLER/42013118" hand marked in pen. A script "Dutch" inside quotation marks is painted in yellow on the left chest. The left shoulder is painted with "Outhouse Mouse" 8th Air Force tail markings: the letter "A" inside a triangle for the 91st Bombardment over "231636" or the identification number for "Outhouse Mouse" over the letter "N" for the 323rd Bomb Squadron. The back of the jacket has the nose art of "Outhouse Mouse" with 26 mission bombs. George Odenwaller was with the fifth and last crew to fly "Outhouse Mouse" with the entire crew finishing with 26 missions. Most noted for having suffered the greatest number of losses of any heavy bomb group during WWII, the 91st Bombardment Group conducted 340 bombing missions with the Eighth Air Force over Europe.

Condition: Very good as painted in the 1990s by a former WWII B-17 ball turret gunner. The cuffs and waist band show moderate wear with the leather showing some minor wear. 95% of the painted images remain. This is a great loving A-2 Flight Jacket!
