Original 1862 Police casing for 6-1/2” barrel with partition style interior configured for Thuer conversion or extra cylinder. The interior of the case is lined in red baize which is correct for the late percussiontransition to cartridge era. The exterior of the case is in good condition with some light scratching, normal aging. The interior of the case shows some stains, impressions, minor fading and fraying and is at lease very good plus. John R. Gangel obtained this case from Johnny Bassett in the early 1980’s in a trade on a Walker pistol and at that time the case contained an 1862 police Thuer conversion engraved with extra cyl which wasin fine condition. Little John sold the set in the mid 1980’s to a local collector who in turn sold it to a major collector in NYC. The New York collector sold it at Butterfields in the late 1990’s at auctionwhere re-purchased by JRG. The case was separated and this exact pistol is pictured in the Dr. Joseph Murphy collection with a different case. A very rare original late percussion to cartridge era case that is
