This is an original RARE Buffalo Bill Cody framed photograph from circa 1890. William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody was born in 1846 and, by age 22, he was Chief of Scouts for the Third Cavalry during the Indian Wars. Cody was given the nickname "Buffalo Bill" after he was contracted to supply buffalo meat to the workers of the Kansas Pacific Railroad. It is reported that he killed over 4,000 buffalo in a brief 18 months. In 1883, Cody founded Buffalo Bill's Wild West, a show that toured annually. He would later perform with notable characters such as Annie Oakley and Pawnee Bill. His show also featured performances by Native American showmen. This photograph shows Buffalo Bill (2nd row, 3rd from left) along with many members of his cast. The photo is inscribed in the lower right corner "Buffalo Bill and part of his troupe. Presented to Gordon by Fred H. Garlow". Fred Garlow was the grandson of Buffalo Bill. The photograph is original and guaranteed to be authentic. It has been professionally matted and framed with protective UV museum grade glass. The photograph measures 12" x 17" (visible area) and the frame measures 22.5" x 27.25".
