The lot features a fine carved human effigy totem spoon from the Northwest Coast Native American Indians from circa 1930-1940’s. The spoon shows a nice large presentation size with all hand carved construction from one piece of wood. The handle shows a human effigy at the top wearing a three ridged hat and holding his hands at the figure’s chest. The center of the front shows three round inlaid abalone shell pieces with a wooden carved edge having a similar, but larger piece of abalone in an oval shape on the back. Provenance: From the private family collection of Sarah Alling of Helena, Montana. The family collection of Sarah Alling, a 5th Generation Montanan, began in the 19th Century and has grown since. Along with being an avid collector herself, Sarah co-founded with Bruce VanLandingham Sundog Fine Art of Bozeman, Montana which was both part museum and gallery. Measures 13”L x 3"W x 1.5”D.
