This is a Victorian era Officer's Home Service pattern helmet. The four paneled body is composed of cork with a blue cloth exterior. On the star is a gilt laurel leaf and circular border marked "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" with a silvered horseback soldier lancing a dragon in the center on a velvet field. At the top is the typical four prong base with a spike. Tudor rose ear bosses suspend a gilt velvet backed chin chain. The front and rear peaks are green skived leather.
