Offered in this lot is a Northern Plains, Sioux Native American Indian beaded, tanned hide documents bag, and a beaded thunderbird effigy pipe stem. The documents bag has a central sun-flare motif in the center, with accenting geometric beadwork encircling it. The bag shows semi-translucent chalk white, corn yellow, sky blue, deep black, semi-translucent green, and polished red white heart trade beads. The bag is further adorned with long cut tanned hide fringe, and rolled tin jingle cones. The pipe stem is also decorated with trade seed beads in sky blue, and greasy orange. The stem shows three Sioux thunderbird effigies, and are spaced by four point stars. The pictorial carvings are contrasted with a red mineral stain. The lot originates from the mid-late 1900's, and shows good condition overall - The pipe stem is absent a bowl. The document bag is displayed in a wooden riker case, with decorative red felt. The riker case measures 23 7/8" deep, 12 1/8" wide, and 2" thick.
