Northern European 2-handed broadsword, circa late 16th to early 17th century, probably Dutch, measuring 69-1/4" from tip to end, with approximately 48" blade. The sword shows a very good quality forged blade withsmall armorer's mark in upper right hand corner, blade has been slightly reduced and rounded at the tip; old original engraving and marks and shows correct period forging. The guard is nicely made and forged, quitefancy, with intertwining rings and hand forged scrollwork. One ring in the guard shows an old repair with large bun-shaped and grooved pommel with light decorations. The handle shows a very old leather rewrappedgrip with brass studs, several of which are missing. The leather is cracking, small losses but at least good and grip was probably restored 100 years ago or more.
