New York Style Engraved Antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, #105790, .45 Colt cal., 4-3/4'' barrel, silver-plated finish, steerhead carved pearl grips with ruby eyes. Factory records confirm that a firearm bearing this serial number was shipped in the soft to Hartley & Graham, New York, Jan. 15, 1884, for their in-house engraving. This revolver appears to have had some minor restoration at one point, and the serial number has been re-stamped with the numbers being of a slightly smaller height. Engraving to frame, cylinder, barrel and backstrap appears identical to the style used by Hartley & Graham, with the correct amount of even wear and patination that would be expected over 130-year period. Pearl grips are probably later replacements, carved from standard slab pearl grips, as the overall relief of the subject matter is somewhat shallow. Condition is very good to near fine with fair amounts of silver in protected areas; cylinder with moderate even wear. Grips show nice character and are complete with minor inclusions to the butt and front strap area. Action remains crisp, bore is very good. Est.: $5,000-$7,500. (Antique)
