For your consideration in this lot we have a New Haven eight day mantle clock originating from the late 1870's to 1880's. The New Haven Clock Company started in 1853 mass producing brass movements for a local clock maker. In 1856 the company bought the clock maker out and started making clocks under their own name. In its heyday, New Haven Clock Company was the leading manufacturer of American clocks. The company went out of business in 1960. This clock shows dark stained wood with a burl wood base. The clock features two key holes and brass gears. The piece shows Victorian style carvings and patterns with a mirror to each side and a cherub on a stand in front of the mirrors. The back of the clock shows its original tag from New Haven Clock Co. with information on setting the hand speed properly. The clock shows good condition overall with some minor wear due to age and wear on the tag in the back. It measures 24 1/4" tall by 16 1/2" wide.
