‘First Model’ Early brass framed lever action repeating rifle chambered in .44 Rimfire, manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1864. Features a 24” octagon barrel with attached sling loop & integral 15 round full-length magazine on the underside, German silver blade front sight, fixed semi-buckhorn rear sight, brass (gun metal) receiver, smooth trigger, straight finger lever with latch, knurled hammer spur, and straight grip walnut shoulder stock with inlet sling swivel plate (no loop) & early style brass trapdoor buttplate. Barrel markings: “HENRY'S PATENT.OCT. 16,1860/MANUFACT'D. BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS.CO.NEW HAVEN. CT” & “4973”. The barrel/magazine bears an aged dark brown patina with silvered edges and some light scattered dark oxidation. The gun metal frame displays fine striations under its mellowed brass patina, along with scattered dings and some darker caramel tones in the protected areas. Action is mechanically sound, the bore is good, markings are very good and the wood stock is good with moderate imperfections such as a small chip on the left side at the wrist, a couple gouges on the right side & small loss at the toe.
