New England flintlock buck and ball half stock rifle, approx. 20 gauge, 44” octagon barrel marked “S. Allen” showing a heavy dark patina throughout, brass furniture that also shows a dark patina, pewter fore end, woodramrod with brass ferrules mounted on wood rib attached beneath the barrel. The gun is in uncleaned out-of-the-attic condition, the way collectors love to see them; the lockplate is marked “S. Ashmore, Warranted”.There is a silver oval escutcheon at the top of the wrist with light engraving; the wood stock is in overall very good condition. A beautiful half stock in original condition except for the flint stone and leather strip. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
