Needham conversion of a Watertown U.S. musket, .58 cal., 37” barrel, grey and case hardened finish, full wood stock, three barrel bands, iron ramrod, two sling swivels. This gun is in overall good condition showing a light grey patina on the barrel and traces of case color on lock plate, hammer and action; overall good bore, action and markings; good wood overall with the usual scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage with some white coloring in grain of the right side of the butt stock and an interesting cloverleaf Fennian-style cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger assembly and traces of an inspector’s cartouche above that marking. A desirable conversion. Est.: $800-$1,600.
