This is a 1938 production Mauser P.08 luger pistol as manufactured in 1938. The top of the chamber is dated "1938" and the front toggle has the wartime code of "S/42" for the Mauser factory at Oberndorf, (both markings highlighted in white). The right side of the barrel extension has the early "stick wing eagle/63" Waffenamt proof next to the single eagle firing proof. Visible numbers match. The grip panels are un-numbered and the magazine number has been ground off leaving the "k" suffix and a crude scratched in "IB". It has the standard extractor and safety markings. Rust blue finish on all the metal surfaces, correctly including the small parts. Fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips. Blue unnumbered (removed) magazine with aluminum base and marked "122/eagle/37" on the lower left front.
