This lot offers you a Navajo Native American Indian Germantown Sunday saddle blanket, originating from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The wool blanket boasts a tight weave, and a thick pile. The saddle blanket is predominantly a rich red color, with symmetrical, polychrome chevrons. The long edges of the blanket show a teal, black, khaki, and white stepped border. Each end of the blanket have long cut Germantown fringe in dark black, matching red and teal, and soft yellow and white. The Sunday blanket is typically an exceptional work, used only as an ornamental piece for a special occasion. The blanket shows good condition - The mineral dyed wool is still bright in color, and tight in weave. There is very slight color bleeding. The blanket measures 25" long, and 20" wide, without the additional length of fringe.
