For your consideration is this very rare original circa early 1900's Navajo Native American Ganado Rug. Located in the southwest of Crystal in the geographical center of the Navajo Reservation the Ganado pattern of weaving was established by Lorenzo Hubbell in late 1800. The motif generally consists of one or more stepped diamonds or stepped and embellished triangles. The colors are usually dominated by a red background with gray, ivory, black and red designs surrounded by geometric border. This rug shows pristine craftsmanship made from 100% soft high-quality wool and shows the red background with many good examples of the stepped diamonds, and multiple colors of crosses. The coloration is done in natural pigmented red, gray, black, and ivory. The rug is believed to be early 1900's work and is in very good condition. The measurements of the rug are 84" x 52".
