Featured in this lot is this Navajo Chinle trading post rug circa 1890-1915. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted Chile trading post rug that features a beautiful brown and off white border with a red brown and light brown coloration tot he geometric patterns show throughout the rug and shows two central medallion's. This regional Navajo Rug style is named for the town of Chinle at the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. The Chinle style was developed by Mary Cabot Wheelwright and Cozy McSparron, a trader at Chinle. They sought to revive weaving using classic period designs with vegetal dyes. The condition of this rug is fair with some wear to the edges of the rug and shows some bleeding of coloration to the rug but otherwise shows age appropriate fair condition. The measurements of this rug are 50" x 32"
