Featured in this lot is this Navajo ceremonial dancer had woven sash circa 1900. The sash features two segments sewn together, the outside rim is a braided border with red and green color wool braids. The majority of the sash is constructed from trade cloth, and each end features expertly woven with geometric patterns shown woven into the trade cloth. Each end shows wonderfully braided fringe adorning the ends. This is a single sided sash with beautiful colors of red, green, black, and blue. The condition of this sash is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of this ceremonial sash are 86" x 9 1/2". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Identification#: E1044.
